COMPUTING PLATFORMS FOR EMBEDDED SYSTEMS. EMBEDDED SYSTEMS IN SMART ENVIRONMENTS

This project has been funded by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism of Spain.
The Cognitive and Perceptive Camera Systems (COPCAMS) project is based on the most recent advances in embedded computing platforms for design, prototyping and large scale artificial vision testing. Its aim is to exploit the capabilities of a new manycore platform to deliver a new generation of associated vision (smart cameras, gateways) devices, able to extract relevant information from the captured images and react autonomously to the environment interoperating scale distributed manner.
COPCAMS is led by the Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique et aux Alternatives Énergies (CEA) and is formed by a consortium of more than 20 organizations from different countries: France, Spain , Poland , Slovenia , Denmark and UK. It has a committed budget of over 30 million euros and includes the participation of CONCATEL Spanish as a strategic partner of the consortium.
COPCAMS is led nationally by IMAGE AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT, SA , with the participation of leading and experienced companies in the context of research and development: CENTRE TECNOLÒGIC DE TELECOMUNICACIONS DE CATALUNYA, IQUADRAT INFORMÁTICA, S.L., TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION y UNIVERSIDAD DE CANTRABRIA y TEDESYS GLOBAL, S.L. y CONCATEL, S.L.
The project has been approved by the ARTEMIS -2012- 1 call for ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking (ARTEMIS JU), an initiative designed to attract the best research ideas and skills in the field of embedded systems in Europe.
ARTEMIS aims to give a solid perspective of what is needed in Europe over the next decade from all players in R&D+i to make Europe a leader in embedded systems.
